ON THE WAY

Independent coffee near London’s main stations

Before the train, or after it.

Most coffee searches in London start from a station. This guide takes the capital’s main terminals and a few busy interchanges and lists the independent shops in our directory within about 700 m of each, measured in a straight line from the shop’s postcode using Transport for London station data. Straight-line distance is not walking time, so check a map for the real route, and check the shop’s hours before you rely on a train-time stop. Stations with nothing close are listed at the end rather than stretched to fit.

How close is close?

We count a shop as near a station when its postcode is within about 700 m in a straight line, roughly ten minutes’ walk on an open route and often longer in practice. The table shows how many listed shops fall inside that circle for each station, and the closest one.

We list no shop within 700 m of Paddington and Marylebone. That reflects the gaps in our research, not a claim that nothing good is there.

If you are heading for one of these, the neighbourhood pages and the full directory are the better starting point.

Distances are straight-line from each postcode’s centre (postcodes.io) to Transport for London station points, rounded to the nearest 50 m, calculated on 25 October 2026 for the shops in our directory only. They are not walking routes and ignore barriers such as rail lines and one-way systems. Shop details come from the businesses’ official websites; no visits. A station with no shop here may still have good coffee we have not researched. How we research the guide.
