Clerkenwell
Prufrock Coffee
Leather Lane
Coffee, food made from scratch and a coffee shop that has called Leather Lane home since 2011.
6 COFFEE SHOPS · ONE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The streets between Farringdon and King’s Cross mix long-running coffee shops with newer ones. Prufrock has been on Leather Lane since 2011 and Catalyst is on Gray’s Inn Road. Redemption Roasters, which trains prison leavers as baristas, opened its first shop on Lamb’s Conduit Street in 2017 and has more by Lincoln’s Inn Fields and in Coal Drops Yard. Origin pours inside the British Library.
MAKE A MORNING OF IT
For food, pick Prufrock or Redemption at Coal Drops Yard. Lamb’s Conduit Street and Lincoln’s Inn Fields suit a quieter cup, and the British Library works before a train from King’s Cross, St Pancras or Euston.
GOOD TO KNOW
Both Redemption shops in Holborn and Bloomsbury say they have wheelchair access. Origin’s British Library café opens at 10am on Sundays, and Coal Drops Yard is down a flight of steps from Stable Street.
