A bag of beans from a roaster you can walk into is an easy gift, but the details differ more than the headline prices suggest. Some gift cards only work online, one also works in cafés, and subscriptions run on bags of 200g or 250g. This guide reads the gift pages of six London roasters in our directory and sets out what each sells, what it costs on 25 October 2026 and the terms we could see. It is a snapshot, not a ranking, and it does not cover every roaster.
Gift cards: check where they work
All six sell a digital gift card, from £10 up to £100 or more, but where the card works differs. Origin’s, Redemption’s, Old Spike’s and The Roasting Shed’s are redeemed on the roaster’s own website, and Redemption and Old Spike say theirs cannot be used in their shops or cafés. Caravan’s card is the exception: its page lists its restaurants, its Lambworks and Euston Road brew bars and its website.
Origin and The Roasting Shed say their cards are valid for 12 months and cannot be used on subscriptions. Amoret’s page says only that its card is emailed and redeemed at checkout, with no processing fee. If you want someone to spend a card in a café, only Caravan’s page says it can be done.
| Roaster | Amounts | Where the page says it works |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | £10, £20, £50, £100, £200 | Origin’s website only; valid 12 months; not for subscriptions |
| Redemption Roasters | £10, £25, £50, £100 | Its website only, not its shops |
| Old Spike | £10, £25, £50, £100 | Its website only, not its cafés |
| Caravan | £25 to £500 | Restaurants, brew bars (including Lambworks) and website |
| The Roasting Shed | £10, £25, £40, £60 | Its website only; valid 12 months; not for subscriptions |
| Amoret | £10, £25, £50, £100 | Redeemed at checkout; the page does not say more |
Gift subscriptions: bags by post
Origin, Caravan and The Roasting Shed sell prepaid gift subscriptions for three, six or twelve months. At the entry level all three work out at £10 a bag, but the bags are not the same size: 250g from Origin and 200g from Caravan and The Roasting Shed.
Origin’s monthly gift subscription is £30, £60 or £120 for 3, 6 or 12 months, with the roasters picking the single-origin coffee of the month; it also lists fortnightly prepaid plans at £60, £120 and £240. Caravan sells 3, 6 or 12 bags of 200g, and says delivery is free on every shipment and that the recipient chooses whole bean or ground, and weekly or monthly. The Roasting Shed’s gift subscriptions send one 200g bag a month: from £30 for three months or £120 for twelve with its espresso, and £37.50 or £150 with its decaf or a surprise.
| Roaster and plan | Bag | 3 / 6 / 12 |
|---|---|---|
| Origin, monthly | 250g | £30 / £60 / £120 |
| Caravan, Daily | 200g | £30 / £60 / £120 |
| Caravan, House | 200g | £31.50 / £63 / £126 |
| Caravan, Vista | 200g | £33 / £66 / £132 |
| Caravan, Decaf | 200g | £34.50 / £69 / £138 |

Sets and bundles
If you would rather hand over something wrapped, Redemption’s At home gift bundle is £25 and pairs its house blend The Block with a V60 dripper and 40 filter papers. Old Spike’s Coffee Explorer Bundle is also £25: three 200g bags, one House Blend and two rotating single origins. Origin sells tasting sets of three coffees, including a filter set at £34 (Beija Flor, Los Altos and Chelangat) and an espresso set at £31.40 (Resolute, Stronghold and Pathfinder).

Classes as gifts
Origin sells gift courses for a home espresso session (£85), a home filter session (£85) and latte art (£95); the espresso course is described as two hours. It also lists a coffee roasting gift course at £100. The page for each course gives the content, so check where and when it runs before buying. Caravan’s Coffee School, at its Lambworks roastery, lists a roastery tour and tasting, home filter and espresso classes and a milk and latte art class; we did not check its current prices or dates.

Beans you can buy in person
Plenty of the shops in our directory sell beans at the counter, which lets you pick the roast and the grind with someone who can answer questions. Filter the directory by beans to take home, or start with the roaster’s own café below.

Before you order
Free UK delivery starts at different totals: £25 at Origin, Redemption and Caravan (standard delivery), £28 at Old Spike and £35 at The Roasting Shed, whose subscriptions always ship free. Check the bag size, the grind and whether the recipient brews filter or espresso, because the same price buys different amounts of coffee. For a decaf drinker, Caravan, The Roasting Shed and Redemption each list a decaf option.
